Our PVD coating or plasma ion nitriding process will improve your components performance on the track. Our ion plating PVD coating processes provide exceptional adhesion, particularly when compared to those applied by conventional plasma spray or wet-bath methods. The ionization from the evaporation sources and increased surface energy improves film adhesion, density and uniformity.NCT utilizes two ion plating processes to deposit our high performance thin film coatings. In the cathodic arc process, large area cathodes are used to produce a uniform coating throughout the entire chamber. The cathodic arc is highly versatile process and deposits a film with exceptional adhesion. Our hollow cathode electron beam process produces the smoothest high density films available in the PVD coating industry. This process will rotate and traverse the product over the evaporation source to ensure uniformity throughout the entire carousel. This guarantees consistent performance, order after order. The plasma ion nitriding process used by NCT produces uniform casehardened layers that improve wear resistance, lower the tendency to gall and extend the fatigue life of your components.

The plasma process can be performed at a lower temperature which yields stability and minimizes the probability of distortion. Manipulating the power and pressure during our process controls the level of plasma energy so it can be customized for the best result. Slow cleaning during the heating cycle produces purest possible surface, allowing a uniform diffusion of nitrogen into the steel to occur.
The ion bombardment portion of the process is carefully controlled so that no damage to the surface occurs. The hardness and case depth of the nitride layer will vary greatly depending on the alloy being nitrided.
